Applications are invited for the post of Programmer / Systems Development Engineer in the research department of Visual Neuroscience at the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology. We are looking for a person with experience in programming visual displays (e.g. in Matlab Psychtoolbox, C++, Python), who has some background in vision research/psychophysics, is familiar with technical issues in precise visual stimulus control, and can interface programs with external devices for data collection (e.g. Tobii or SMI eye tracker).
Salary: UCL Grade 7, £32,055 to £38,744 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
The position is funded for a period of 24 months in the first instance.
Closing date: July 11th 2012.
The post-holder will join the UCL Child Vision Lab headed by Dr Marko Nardini to provide programming and technical support for research projects developing new tests for assessment of visual function in young children, investigating retinal and cortical function in children with retinal disease, and evaluating results of trials of new treatments for sight loss such as gene replacement therapy. The successful applicant will work closely with members of the lab to implement new vision tests and studies in clear and well-documented code.
