Hello! Bonjour!
We are seeking a highly creative and motivated postdoctoral research associate to join the Multimodal Communication and Machine Learning Laboratory (Multicomp Lab) at USC Institute for Creative Technologies (near Venice Beach, CA). The position is designed for basic research in the area of Computer Vision and Machine Learning, with a focus on Human Behavior Analysis. The MultiComp Lab is actively pursuing research projects in multimodal learning analytics (K-12 and university levels), computational models of human communication dynamics and decision-support tools for medical diagnosis of social and mental disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression).
Candidates for this position should have a PhD in Computer Science or related field and a significant technical track record including publications in top machine learning and/or computer vision conferences and journals. The successful applicant will have a strong mathematical background (linear algebra, statistics and probabilities) and extensive research experience in automatic human behavior analysis, including facial analysis, gesture/activity recognition and audio-visual behavior understanding. The position will be for one year, renewable for a second year, starting Summer or Fall 2012.
