The Visual Cognition laboratory ( http://www.unifr.ch/inph/vclab/ ) has
an opening for studying neural mechanisms of visual information
processing and visually based behaviors in the tree shrew, a small
mammal that is a close relative of primates. You will use multi-channel
neural recordings of single units and field potentials, as well as
quantiative neurotransmitter monitoring to study brain responses during
processing of visual stimuli. You will also have the opportunity to
study the causal impact of deep brain stimulation and drug application
on visually based behaviors using wireless technology in untethered
freely behaving animals. A M.Sc. degree in a natural science or related
discipline is a prerequisite. Programming skills, for example in MATLAB,
and previous research experience is advantageous. You will be part of a
lively interdisciplinary team. Salary will be around 3300 Euro/month.
Fribourg is a friendly, diverse city in central Switzerland close to the
mountains and numerous ski resorts. Please send CV, statement of
research interests and reference letters (if available) before 15.7.2012
to gregor.rainer at unifr.ch.
