We are looking for first rate postdocs to join our group. Our focus is on
understanding how neural systems represent and process information and, in
parallel, using what we learn to develop prosthetics, brain machine
interfaces, and robots. Recent advances have led to the development of a
prosthetic device for treating blindness and novel machine vision systems,
and we're currently forming a startup company. Postdoctoral fellows can be
associated with both the university and the start up company if they'd
like. Candidates should be highly motivated, hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience,
electrical engineering, or a related field, and excited about translating
basic science discoveries into solutions to real-world problems. They
should also have a strong quantitative background with significant
programming experience; experience in neurophysiology is helpful as well,
but not required.
Weill Cornell Medical College is among the top-ranked clinical and medical
research centers in the country. Founded in 1898, it is part of a large
biomedical enterprise extending along York Avenue between 65th and 72nd
streets on Manhattan's Upper East Side that includes Rockefeller University
and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Many of the graduate programs
and seminar series are jointly run by the three institutions, fostering a
great deal of interaction in a very dynamic environment.
Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, contact information for three
references, and a cover letter with a brief description of past research
accomplishments as well as future research interests and career goals to
Dr. Eric Carlson at nirenberglab at gmail.com.
