The University of Oulu in Northern Finland is an international, 
multidisciplinary research university with a rich pool of creative and 
intellectual talent. It is one of the largest universities in Finland 
with an exceptionally wide academic base. The Oulu Region is recognized 
as a world-class R&D hub with an R&D input per capita among the highest 
globally.

The University of Oulu announces a tenure-track opening from 2013 for a 
researcher investigating computer vision. The position is located at the 
Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The department has a 
world-class research unit working in the area of the position: The 
Center for Machine Vision Research (www.cse.oulu.fi/CMV). The mission of 
the machine vision research is to develop novel computer vision methods 
and technologies that create a basis for emerging innovative 
applications. Its current areas of research include image and video 
descriptors, facial image analysis, 3D computer vision, human-centered 
vision systems, and embedded vision systems.

Tenure track position is open to highly talented individuals who hold a 
doctoral degree and have excellent potential for a successful scientific 
career. Based on the experience and competence, the successful applicant 
of this call will be placed at Assistant Professor (a fixed-term 
position for 3-5 years) or Associate Professor (initially a fixed term 
position for five years, a continuation period is possible) level of the 
four-level tenure track system.
