2 Postdoctoral positions in computer vision and machine learning are
available in the Human Sensing Lab (http://humansensing.cs.cmu.edu) in the
Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA campus
1) Starting date: September 2012
The candidate will be responsible of develop algorithms for real-time
detection of pedestrian and cars from images. A strong background in
computer vision is required. This will be initially a one year position with
the possibility of an extension pending funding. The post-doc will also
coordinate the work of several graduate students throughout the year.
Applications should be sent by email (ftorre at cs.cmu.edu) and should include
a CV, the expected date of availability, and the contact information for 3
references.
2) Starting date: November 2012
Endotracheal intubation (ETI), the placement of a breathing tube in the
trachea, is the definitive treatment for airway management among critically
ill patients. The most common reason to not succeed during ETI is deficient
skills of the provider which degrades over time when infrequently performed.
Video laryngoscopy (VL) provides video data of the internal anatomy during
ETI that could potentially be used for structured assessment provider skill
levels. We are looking for a vision researcher who will develop computer
vision algorithms to classify ETI performance characteristics from videos.
A strong background in low level computer vision and learning techniques are
required. This will be initially a one year position with the possibility
of an extension pending funding. The post-doc will also coordinate the work
of several graduate students throughout the year.
Applications should be sent by email (ftorre at cs.cmu.edu) and should include
a CV, the expected date of availability, and the contact information for 3
