Description: David Brainard's laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania has an opening for a laboratory programmer to design and implement software for real time control of experimental apparatus for visual psychophysics and visual neurophysiology and analysis of data. Duties will include writing programs for control of experiments, precise manipulation of visual displays, real time data acquisition, development of software for novel apparatus, numerical data analysis, and maintenance of laboratory computers.  

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.   Experience with both MATLAB and C/C++ required, as well as knowledge of display programming and real time hardware control and experience with some variant of UNIX/Linux. Knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and statistics a plus. Knowledge of source code control, unit testing, and other good software development practices a plus. Knowledge of OpenGL a plus. Understanding of UNIX/Linux system architecture and system operation a plus. Position contingent upon funding.
