3 year postdoc position

For a Vidi project funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research, the Educational Psychology Department of the Institute of Psychology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam is looking for a postdoctoral researcher for a period of 3 years.

The project focuses on video-based modelling examples, in which a human model demonstrates to a learner how a task should be performed (cf. Khan Academy or certain YouTube demonstration videos). Specifically, using eye tracking, we will be investigating students’ attention allocation while they study video-based modelling examples, and how this relates to their learning outcomes. Another aim is to develop and study eye movement modelling examples, in which students’ not only see the model performing the task on a computer, but also see the model’s eye movements during task performance.

Next to research, the postdoc will be involved in some teaching activities for a small part of the time.

Requirements:

The successful candidate:

  *   Has completed (or nearly completed) a PhD in Educational Science/Psychology, Cognitive Science/Psychology, Computer Science, or related disciplines
  *   Has experience with experimental research
  *   Has excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  *   Has a track record of international peer-reviewed publications, preferably SSCI journal articles
  *   Preferably has experience with eye tracking methodology
