The Verghese & Renninger laboratories at The Smith Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, San Francisco have an opening for a programmer/engineer to design and implement software for real time control of experimental apparatus for visual psychophysics, EEG and for eye movement studies. Duties will include writing programs for control of experiments, precise manipulation of visual displays, interfacing and synchronizing display computers with motion trackers and eye trackers, real time data acquisition, and development of software for new devices. Engineering responsibilities include designing and building custom experimental equipment.

We are looking for an individual with good communication and problem solving skills, who is well organized and can handle multiple concurrent projects. The candidate is expected to have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.  Experience with both MATLAB and C/C++ is required, as well as knowledge of display programming and real-time hardware control. Knowledge of optics and electronics is a plus. Knowledge of OpenGL is desirable as is experience with parallel programming.
