A postdoctoral position is available at McGill University under the
joint supervision of Michael Langer (School of Computer Science), and
Fred Kingdom and Curtis Baker (McGill Vision Research Unit). The
research will investigate human perception of surfaces in 3D cluttered
scenes, akin to foliage, using motion parallax and stereopsis. A
complementary aim of the research will be to provide insights in how to
improve computer graphics methods for 3D volume rendering. Candidates
should have PhD-level experience in visual psychophysicsexperiments,
preferably with a strong background in surface perception and 3D
computer graphics. The research will involve motion parallax and stereo
displays with head tracking in a "fish tank" VR setup, so experience
with these or related technologies such as eye tracking would be highly
desirable.
The salary will be $40,000 CAD per year. The appointment is initially
for one year, with possibility for renewal for up to a total of three
years.
McGill University has an active and diverse vision science community.
McGill is located in downtown Montreal which is a vibrant, cosmopolitan,
and relatively inexpensive city.
Candidates should send a CV and a cover letter including the names of
two references to michael.langer at mcgill.ca.
