Two full-time PhD (MQRES) Scholarships are available in the Department of
Cognitive Science at Macquarie University (Sydney) associated with ARC
Future Fellowship FT120100830.

These scholarships are to support two PhD candidates working with Dr
Matthew Finkbeiner on exploring the temporal dynamics of basic cognitive
processes such as word and object recognition.

The new PhD student(s) will work in the Action & Cognition Laboratory (
http://www.maccs.mq.edu.au/laboratories/action/), which provides students
and researchers with a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment (motion
capture, eye-tracking, EEG, TMS, virtual reality). Applicants should have a
strong experimental background in visual cognition and those with
programming skills (Presentation, Matlab, R) are preferred.

Cognitive Science at Macquarie University is a vibrant, research-only
department that offers its many doctoral and postdoctoral researchers a
world-class intellectual environment. The Department of Cognitive Science
is also home to the ARC Centre of Excellence for Cognition and its
Disorders (http://www.ccd.edu.au/).

Funding for PhD students to present at conferences and/or to visit
laboratories overseas during their candidature is available.

The 2012 MQRES full-time stipend rate is $23,728 pa tax exempt for 3.5
years. These scholarships must be taken up by the end of 2012.

Prospective PhD applicants should have a first class Honours degree or
equivalence, and for scholarship holders, additional relevant research
experience and/or qualifications in line with the University's scholarship
