[visionlist] Call for applications and nominations for BCLA research awards

The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) is now inviting applications and
nominations for its annual research awards by the closing date of 1 November
2012.

³The annual BCLA research awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the
field of contact lens and anterior eye research,² said BCLA President, Dr
Catharine Chisholm. ³They recognise both those who have had a profound
affect on the field through years of outstanding achievement, and those who
are just starting their careers in research. It is rewarding to see how many
of the Dallos, Da Vinci and Irving Fatt award winners go on to become
significant figures in the field. We look forward to receiving nominations
and applications for the next round of awards.²

Apply for the 2014 Dallos Award, which funds a year-long project, or the
2013 Da Vinci Award, which recognises work by those who are not established
contact lens researchers. Nominate for the 2014 BCLA Medal, which goes to an
individual who has made an outstanding contribution to contact lenses; and
apply to present the 2014 Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture. The latter is aimed
at postgraduates in the field of contact lenses and/or the anterior eye, who
have completed a PhD, a post-doctoral degree or MSc in the UK within the
last five years and continued with their research either in private
practice, hospital practice or academia.
