School of Optometry
University of Montreal
Research Professor - Vision Science
The School of Optometry invites applications for a full-time research professor position in vision science for an initial period of 3 years. Within that period the candidate must succeed in obtaining a salary grant, such as the Research Scholar Career Award from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQ-S). The renewal of the employment contract will be contingent on receiving the Career Award.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate should demonstrate a high level of productivity and have the capability to build an autonomous funded research program. He/she will also be expected to supervise Masters and doctoral students in the Vision Science program and to participate in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Although the School encourages applications in all domains of vision science, it would be preferable for the candidate's research to be complementary to the research activities of the other faculty members of the School, which include vision neuroscience, ocular pathology, visual function, impairment and rehabilitation. The ideal candidate would be able to use imaging techniques to address fundamental questions about the structure and function of the human visual system. The School of Optometry is particularly interested in candidates who could integrate the use of imaging techniques with other methods such as behavioural measures, animal research, modeling, and genetics.
Requirements
* PhD in Vision Science or related area
* Post-doctoral studies and in-depth knowledge of the stated area of expertise
* Qualifications required to obtain a salary grant as offered by FRQ-S and other funding institutions
