*DESCRIPTION*

Under supervision, the lab assistant will be the lab coordinator, working
closely with the PI, departmental staff, graduate and undergraduate
students in the laboratory, while helping oversee the different projects in
the lab. Duties include managing, recruiting, screening and scheduling
adult subjects, testing subjects’ attention, memory and perceptual decision
making, and organizing and entering experimental data. Will also assist
with data analysis, prepare and manage records of subjects and maintain lab
equipment and supplies. Train undergraduate research assistants. Conduct
literature searches as required.

*QUALIFICATIONS
*
Experience conducting research in a lab environment.

Experience working with human subjects.

Experience with the following software: SPSS, Microsoft, Excel, Word and
FileMaker.

Two years of applicable college-level coursework in experimental
Psychology, Linguistics or Cognitive Science, or equivalent lab experience.

Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated skills in accurate record
keeping, filing, etc.

Ability to supervise and train lab student assistants in the use of
laboratory equipment and testing procedures.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills for interacting with lab members
and departmental staff.

Ability to act professionally, and work effectively with a range of
personnel, including laboratory staff, faculty and visitors.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with Human Subjects
requirements.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Highly self-motivated, able to solve problems independently and with
initiative.
