* Rochester Institute of Technology
Carlson Center for Imaging Science
Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Fall 2013
*
We are seeking candidates to contribute to the Center’s growing research
and education in the area of vision (e.g., vision science, cognitive
science, computer vision, or related fields). The preferred rank is
Assistant Professor, although other ranks will be considered for
exceptional candidates. The successful candidate can join the
Multidisciplinary Vision Research Laboratory (MVRL), a group of faculty
from across RIT with a shared focus on vision. Led by Co-directors Anne
Haake (Associate Dean, Golisano College of Computing and Information
Sciences), Jeff Pelz (Frederick Wiedman Chair of Imaging Systems, College
of Science), and Andrew Herbert (Chair, Psychology department, College of
Liberal Arts), the MVRL is an active cross-college collaboration with
strong institutional support.
The Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science (CIS) housed in the
College of Science is a highly interdisciplinary university research and
education center dedicated to pushing the frontiers of imaging in all its
forms and uses. Major research thrusts within the Center include Vision
Science, Astronomy and Space Science, Color Science, Computer Vision and
Computational Photography, MRI and Ultrasound Imaging, Nano-Imaging,
Optics, and Remote Sensing.
CIS offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Imaging Science with a systems
emphasis focused on the physics of image formation, the mathematics and
engineering of image processing, analysis and information extraction, and
the development and application of sensor systems and imaging
instrumentation. CIS also offers the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Color
Science, which is a broad multidisciplinary program with courses and
research in visual perception, psychophysics, color modeling of materials,
and imaging systems. The faculty collaborate with multiple departments
across RIT including those within the College of Liberal Arts, the College
of Computing and Information Sciences, the College of Imaging Arts and
Sciences, and the College of Engineering. For more information please visit

The Center for Imaging Science is also seeking an outstanding candidate for
a junior tenure-track position in the area of optics for imaging (e.g.,
optical systems, optical image formation, optical engineering, image
modeling, or related fields).
