1 PhD Studentship in Computer Vision (Breast Image Analysis) in the
Computer Vision and Robotics group.
University of Girona
Girona, Spain
Fixed term appointments for 3 years.
PhD Studentships: Salary of 14500 euros per annum
Starting date: January 2013
We have 1 new exciting position available within the Computer Vision

and Technology. Detailed information about the research group can be
found at http://vicorob.udg.edu. The research position is associated
with a new project funded by the European Union which aims to develop
computer vision and image analysis techniques to the evaluation of
medical images. In particular, the interest of the project is the
analysis of novel magnetic resonance (MRI) sequences and 3D ultrasound
(ABUS) breast images for lesion detection, characterisation and follow-up.
This involves research on image acquisition, segmentation and
registration of those modalities in order to detect and assess lesion
changes during time. Further information on the research area of the
project and informal queries can be directed to robert.marti at udg.edu
Applicants for the PhD Studentship will need to have a good honours
degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics,
Physics or another related area with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (over 4).
A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering,
Mathematics,
Physics or another related area is also essential for this post and
should have
been awarded in 2011 or after. High levels of ability in computing and
programming skills (Matlab and C++) are required. Research experience in
image processing, computer vision, or machine learning, and a clear
interest
in vision are also desirable. All applicants must be fluent in spoken
and written English.
Applications must include the following:
- A full CV including University degrees and dates, past and present
posts, publications and the names and addresses of 2 referees preferably
from the University or Institute that awarded the degree
- Copy of the University Degrees and transcripts (English translation)
for both BSc and MSc
- Proof of level of competency in English
- A copy of a valid ID document and passport
- A 1 page research statement should be provided indicating what you see
are interesting research issues relating to the above post, why your
expertise is relevant, and what your future research plans are.
Minimum requirements:
- Mean GPA of 2.5 (over 4) for the BSc degree.
- MSc degree obtained in 2011 or 2012.
Applications should be sent via email to:
