We are currently looking for a Postdoctoral Senior Scientist to join the
Macular Pigment Research Group (www.mprg.ie) within the CREST (Central
Retinal Enrichment Supplementation Trials) project.

*Job description:*

*Department:* Macular Pigment Research Group, Waterford Institute of
Technology, Waterford, Ireland

*Grade:* The salary grade offered will be calculated from the Irish
Universities Association (IUA) Researchers’ Salary Scales for a
Post-Doctorate Researcher. It will be dependent on the candidate’s level of
experience.

*Salary:* From €37,750 gross.

*Commencement Date and Project Duration:* January 2013. Two years, full
time.

*Minimum Qualification Required:* PhD in science

*Major Duties:*

To provide expertise and support to the Principal Investigator of the CREST
(Central Retinal Enrichment Supplementation Trials) project, Dr. John
Nolan. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of nutrition for
vision, including the macular carotenoids; lutein, zeaxanthin and *meso*
-zeaxanthin.

The position will require the candidate to co-supervise with the Principal
Investigator the PhD research students working on the European-funded CREST
project, in the areas of data analysis, data interpretation and data
reporting. The Senior Scientist will be requested to lead certain areas of
this project in order to maximise the data obtained from the study. This
person will also be requested to work with the Principal Investigator to
identify areas of new horizons relating to this research.

   - Management
