£24,520 per annum

Applications are invited for the above post to work with Dr Neil Roach on a Wellcome Trust funded research project investigating the role of prediction in human visual processing. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to enrol on the PhD program at the School of Psychology and funding will be provided to cover fees at the UK/EU level.

The project will investigate the mechanisms and functions of motion-based forward modelling using a combination of psychophysical, computational and neurophysiological approaches. Aspects of the project will be conducted in collaboration with the laboratories of Professor Alan Johnston (University College London) and Professor Alexander Thiele (Newcastle University). The position will be based within the Nottingham Visual Neuroscience Group, which currently comprises seven Faculty members and a number of postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.  The group has a diverse range of interests in human vision, is supported by excellent facilities and is firmly committed to the development of early stage career researchers.

The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills, who is keen to contribute to all stages of the experimental process. Candidates must hold an undergraduate (honours) degree, (upper 2nd or 1st class) or equivalent and a Masters degree, or equivalent, in a relevant field such as psychology, optometry, neuroscience, physiology, computer science or a related discipline. Strong quantitative skills and/or some experience in computer programming would also be desirable.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 3 years.
