*Postdoctoral Position:** *Crossmodal Perception and Plasticity
Post-Doctoral applications are invited in the newly established Crossmodal
Perception and Plasticity Lab [
https://sites.google.com/site/collignonlab/home] hosted at the Center for
Mind/Brain Science at the University of Trento, Italy. Researches in the
lab focus on multisensory integration (at brain and behavioral levels
inboth normal and pathological states)
as well as on brain plasticity in sensory deprived individuals. Projects
will include the investigation of the multisensory nature of traditionally
considered 'unisensory' brain areas and/or the characterization of the
functional properties of sensory deprived regions (crossmodal plasticity in
blind and/or deaf).
The University of Trento is ranked first among research universities in
Italy, and the Trentino region is consistently at the top for quality of
life and for the most efficient services in Italy. CIMeC offers a vibrant
and friendly international environment with state-of-the-art neuroimaging
methodologies, including a research-only 4T-MRI scanner, MEG, EEG and TMS,
as well as behavioral, eye tracking and motion tracking laboratories, and
access to neuropsychological patient panels. English is the official
language of the CIMeC, where a large proportion of the faculty, post-docs
and students come from a wide range of countries. The lab is near to
beautiful mountains (eg the dolomites) and lakes (eg lake Garda), which
provides a wonderful natural backdrop to professional activities.
The ideal candidate should have a degree in a field related to Cognitive
Neuroscience and has some experience in conducting neuroimaging (fMRI or
M/EEG) experiments. Programming skills, as well as interest in
methodological development (brain connectivity, pattern recognition,
machine learning), is a plus but not a necessity. Knowledge of Italian
language would be valuable but is not required.
The commitment is for up to three years, with a competitive European-level
salary, depending upon qualifications and experience.
Starting date is flexible but should be in the first half of 2013, and
applications will be considered until the position is filled. Applications
including a CV and the names and contact details of two referees should be
sent to: olivier.collignon at unitn.it <Narly.Golestani at unige.ch>. Informal
inquiries are welcome.
