2-YEAR POSTDOC IN COLOR IMAGING
==========================================================
The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory (Colourlab) at the Faculty of Computer Science and Media Technology in Gjøvik University College invites applications for a 2-year full-time Experienced Researcher (ER) positions in the context of the EU-funded Marie Curie Initial Training Network project entitled Colour Printing 7.0: Next Generation Multi-Channel Printing (CP7.0). This project addresses a significant need for research, training and innovation in the printing industry. Our aim is to fully explore the possibilities of using more than the conventional four colorants (CMYK) in printing, focusing particularly on spectral properties, see http://www.cp70.org. The four key scientific areas that this project will focus on are 1) Spectral modeling of the printer/paper/ink combination, 2) Spectral gamut prediction and gamut mapping, 3) The effect of paper optical and surface properties on the colour reproduction of multi-channel devices, and 4) Optimal halftoning algorithms and tonal reproduction characteristics of multi-channel printing.
The recruited researcher will work in a dynamic high-level international research environment within the Colourlab, at the premises of Gjøvik University College, and in close collaboration with other researchers from the CP7.0 network. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with colour imaging and printing workflows, a strong scientific background, and be a habile programmer. In addition to pursuing his or her own research objectives in concordance with the CP7.0 goals, he or she will be responsible for devising implementation strategies for methodologies developed in CP7.0 project, testing them within colour reproduction workflows, and prototyping end-user applications. The position will be based at GUC, but the candidate will also spend short secondments/visits to several project partners, to amongst other things provide training for less experienced project members in programming and workflow implementation, to exploit various application areas such as fine art reproduction and spectral proofing, and to participate in a rich program of organized research training activities within the project.
****Eligibility regulations****
In accordance to the eligibility regulations for Marie Curie ITNs imposed by the EU, the ER to be appointed must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the host organization's country (Norway) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the appointment date. Short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
In addition, applicants for the Experienced Researcher positions should fulfill the following conditions:
1) Must be in the first 5 years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers and already in possession of a doctoral degree, independently of the time taken to acquire it orhaving at least 4 years of research experience (full-time equivalent) after obtaining the degree which formally allows them to embark on a doctorate in the country which the degree/diploma was obtained or in the country where the initial training activities are provided.,
2) Should hold a good postgraduate degree or a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Printing Science, Colour Imaging, or other relevant field.
Applicants are expected to have an outstanding academic record, be highly motivated and proactive, have excellent organization and communication skills, and be eager to disseminate research results through publications and presentations at international conferences and seminars. Fluency in English is a prerequisite.
****General information****
The annual salary is NOK 503.300(Approx EUR67.000) Gross PA for a 100% position. Tax and medical insurance is deducted at approx 30%.
