REWARDVIEW “What you get is what you see: How Reward Determines Perception”

As part of an ERC Advanced grant there are two  postdoctoral and three PhD positions available at the Cognitive Psychology lab, Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam (www.cogpsy.nl<http://www.cogpsy.nl>).



All candidates will collaborate in designing and running experiments on attention and reward and these experiments may include neuroimaging ( ERP and fMRI) and research involving patients.



POST-DOC  REQUIREMENTS: The candidate has training in attention/vision research, and possibly (but not necessarily) with brain imaging (ERP & fMRI). Excellent writing skills are an absolute requirement. Programming proficiency is vital (We program in Matlab, Python, and C++.). The candidate must have already several international publications. The post-doc will have a role in supervising the PhD students.



PhD REQUIREMENTS: The candidate has (or will have in the near future) an MSc degree in cognitive psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, physics, informatics, AI, , biology, or a comparable area. The candidate has a strong interest in experimental research in the area of visual perception, and attention, good research skills, and excellent ability to write and read English. Experience with programming or scripting languages (for example C++, Visual Basic, E-Prime, MatLab) is preferred.



Command of the Dutch language is not necessary.


Appointment and salary

Post-doc: Gross salary is minimum of  € 2379.- per month (the salary is negotiable). The initial appointment is for one year, renewable at least once up to a maximum of 3 years.
PhDs:  The candidate will be appointed for a period of four years, leading up to a PhD dissertation. Payment will be according to the standard regulations, from € 1956 per month in the first year to € 2502 per month in the fourth year (gross income, based on fulltime appointment).
