                        Air Force Research Laboratory

                        Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH

As Chief Scientist for all of the U.S. Air Force's human-centered research
at Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), I solicit your assistance in
helping us spread the word about the Repperger Research Intern program at
our Human Effectiveness Directorate. A colleague or acquaintance of yours
who works in AFRL suggested I send the information to you for dissemination
to applicable students.

The Repperger Research Intern Program honors the life and works of Dr.
Daniel W. Repperger (1942-2010), who was one of our top scientists and a
mentor of many young engineers and scientists. Through the program, we will
be providing 8-10 internships this summer for graduate students or
undergraduate students in their junior or senior year to work under the
mentorship of an Air Force scientist. Additional information and
application instructions are in the attached brochure. Here's a brief
summary of the program:

· Program Dates: June 3 - August 9, 2013

· Application Deadline: March 29, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. EST

· Award Announcements: On or about April 15, 2013

· Placement at one of two research locations

― Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio

― Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas

· Benefits to Intern:

― Stipend: $12,000

― Experience of working in an operational laboratory under the
mentorship of an Air Force scientist

― Collaboration with other Air Force scientists and research interns

― Exposure to potential future postdoctoral or employment position

· Available research projects (project descriptions are in attached
info):

― COMPUTATIONAL MODELS OF HUMAN INFORMATION PROCESSING

― LEARNING AND COLLABORATION USING GAME-BASED TECHNOLOGIES AND TOOLS

― PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGIES FOR ANALYST AND ANALYST TEAMS

― COGNITIVELY-ENHANCED COMPLEX EVENT PROCESSING IN A LARGE-SCALE
INTELLIGENT SENSOR

― HEURISTICS FOR ROBUSTNESS AND TRUST IN INTEGRATED HUMAN-MACHINE
DECISION SYSTEMS

― MODELING HUMAN INTERACTIONS WITH TABLET AND PORTABLE COMPUTING
DEVICES

― EFFECTIVELY CONVEYING COMPLEX INFORMATION THROUGH INTUITIVE
VISUALIZATIONS

― COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS & COMPUTER ACOUSTIC DISPLAYS

― EVALUATION OF THE WORKLOAD AND FATIGUE OF NETWORK SECURITY
DEFENDERS: CYBER VIGILANCE

― EVENT-RELATED CEREBRAL HEMODYNAMICS IN AUDITORY AND VISUAL VIGILANCE
TASKS

― WORKLOAD EFFECTS ON TEAM PHYSIO-BEHAVIORAL SYNCHRONICITY

― STRESS, GENETICS AND BEHAVIOR

OF A DIRECTED ENERGY WEAPON DURING IRREGULAR AND REGULAR WARFARE SCENARIOS

― MICROFLUIDIC DEVICE FOR LASER EXPOSURE

― BIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF TERAHERTZ RADIATION

― BIOLOGICAL INTERACTION OF ENGINEERED NANOMATERIALS

― BIOLOGICAL AND NANOMATERIAL SENSOR DEVELOPMENT FOR HUMAN PERFORMANCE

― COGNITIVE AND HUMAN FACTORS OF ANOMALY DETECTION

― UNDERSTANDING & PREDICTING HUMAN-CENTRIC THREATS FOR INTELLIGENCE,
SURVEILLANCE & RECONNAISSANCE APPLICATIONS

NOTE: Students selected for participation in this program, will be offered
temporary summer employment for the internship by a contractor company to
perform work for AFRL's Human Effectiveness Directorate. This is not a U.S
Government position. Selected participants will be required to undergo a
National Agency Check before being granted access to government computer
systems.
