At Oldenburg University, the following PhD position is currently open:

PhD topic:

*Comparing sensory and electromagnetic brain entrainment*

Oscillatory brain activity reflects the electrophysiological correlate 
of many cognitive processes and can be entrained both with repetitive 
sensory and electric or magnetic stimuli. It has been demonstrated that 
modulations of oscillatory brain activity can result in alterations of 
cognitive functions. However, it is still unclear how exactly repetitive 
stimulation and brain activity interact. Therefore, different sensory 
and electromagnetic stimulation paradigms shall be explored in order to 
find out how amplitude, frequency, and phase of ongoing brain 
oscillations can be modulated.

*Duties of the candidate:*

·To design, carry out, and analyse experiments with repetitive sensory 
and electromagnetic stimulation

·To prepare scientific manuscripts about the obtained results

*Desired experience of the candidate:*

**

·Academic Master of Science in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, 
Physics, or a related field**

·Prior experience with electroencephalography**

·Experience with MATLAB and brain stimulation techniqeus would be helpful.

Payment will be according to E13 TV-L (65 %) for a duration of three years.
