A research assistant/lab manager position will be available starting Fall 2013 in the Dilks Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at Emory University (http://www.psychology.emory.edu/cognition/dilks/index.html). Research in the lab spans two areas: i) Cortical plasticity in adult human vision, and ii) Functional organization of human visual cortex and its origins. We use a variety of methods, including psychophysics and fMRI in typical children, adults, and individuals with developmental disorders or brain damage, as well as TMS in typical adults. Responsibilities will include assisting with all aspects of research (designing/programming experiments, recruiting/running participants, analyzing behavioral and fMRI data) and overseeing day-to-day lab operations. This is an excellent position for someone who would like to obtain additional research experience in vision and cognitive neuroscience before applying to graduate school.

Necessary skills/qualifications: A bachelor's (or higher) in cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, psychology, math or other related field. Strong math and computer programming skills (especially MATLAB and/or Python) are required. Should be self-motivated, independent, and reliable. Strong organizational and communication skills are also essential. Research experience in cognitive neuroscience (e.g., conducting and analyzing fMRI or MRI studies) would be ideal, but not required. The position requires a commitment of two years.

Interested parties should email a CV, names of references, and a brief statement of interest to Daniel D Dilks: dilks at mit.edu
