The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory (previously known
as The Norwegian Color Research Laboratory) at the Faculty of Computer
Science and Media Technology at Gjøvik University College in Gjøvik,
Norway, is a dynamic and growing research environment within the field
of colour and visual computing, with a core group of 5 full time faculty
members, 12 PhD students, as well as several adjunct members.
Due to new project funding from the Research Council of Norway for the
project "HyPerCept - Colour and Quality in Higher Dimensions" we are
very happy to announce six new fully funded PhD positions within the
broadly defined field of colour imaging. Key information about the
different positions including their supervisors are given below:
* PhD1: Total variation based optimization of image quality. Prof.
Ivar Farup (ivar.farup at hig.no) and Dr. Jonny Nersveen
(jonny.nersveen at hig.no, The Norwegian Universal Design Laboratory).
* PhD2: Gaze and quality based colour image compression. Dr. Ali Alsam
(ali.alsam at hist.no, Sør-Trøndelag University College), Prof. Ivar
Farup (ivar.farup at hig.no)
* PhD3: Optimizing visual and diagnostic image quality in radiography,
using metrics and eye tracking. Dr. Marius Pedersen
(marius.pedersen at hig.no) and Dr. Dag Waaler (dag.waaler at hig.no,
Faculty of Health, Care, and Nursing).
* PhD4: Colour managed cartography for colour deficient users. Dr.
Peter Nussbaum (peter.nussbaum at hig.no) and Dr. Phil Green
(philip.green at hig.no).
* PhD5: Colour and quality in mobile devices. Dr. Simon McCallum (GUC
Game Group, simon.mccallum at hig.no) and Professor Jon Y. Hardeberg
(jon.hardeberg at hig.no).
* PhD6: 3D video filtering and analysis for video-guided automated
surgery. Dr. Faouzi Alaya Cheikh (faouzi.cheikh at hig.no), Dr. Ole
Jacob Elle (Oslu University Hospital, oelle at ous-hf.no), and Prof.
Azeddine Beghdadi (Université Paris 13,
azeddine.beghdadi at univ-paris13.fr)
The application deadline is April 2, 2013, the start date is between May
and September 2013, and the appointments are for three years. The annual
salary is NOK 416.600 (approx. EUR 55.000) gross.
