Overview:
Are you seeking a new opportunity to work for one of the world's most admired companies? In this job you will conduct long-term scientific research used to develop future Canon Products.
We have open positions for a Scientist & Sr. Scientist to work in the Computational Imaging area within our newly-established Innovation Center located in San Jose, CA.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Center at a time when you can contribute to the long-term research strategy of the area. You will get the opportunity to publish in international conferences and journals as well as collaborate with academic institutions.
Responsibilities:
* Develop or prototype creative solutions to research problems
* Develop suggestions about new product features/ideas
* Make independent decisions regarding research strategies and methods in relation to theories, precepts, and practices in the field
* Assist with identifying business product needs and lead the research in the discovery and application of results
* Assist with establishing strategic direction for a long-term research area
* Develop appropriate recommendations to meet product development needs
* Contribute as a major individual patent producer
Qualifications:
* PhD degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science required
* Scientist or Sr. Scientist depends on years of research experience in Industrial R&D or Academia with an established publication record in one or more of the following: illumination-based computer vision, computational illumination, multispectral imaging, simulation of imaging systems, machine learning.
* Ability to program in Matlab or C/C++
* Must possess and be able to apply knowledge of scientific research principles and practices to complete research assignments for a theme area
* Experience in intellectual property development is helpful
* Strong communication skills, oral and written
