Research Fellow in Visual Tracking
University of South Australia - Advanced Computing Research Centre
Salary range - $79,145 - $93,986 pa (Australian Dollars $1A = $US1.02 approx)
Total Remuneration Range approximately - $87k - 103k pa
The total remuneration range includes salary, employer super contributions of 9% salary and annual leave loading
1.5 years full time contract (extension up to 3 years)

The Research Fellow will conduct theoretical and experimental research aimed at improving the state of the art of algorithms for the autonomous detection, tracking and recognition of objects in video imagery.

The position is located at the Advanced Computing Research Centre<http://www.unisa.edu.au/Research/Advanced-Computing-Research-Centre/> University of South Australia's (UniSA) Mawson Lakes Campus South Australia.

This research is in collaboration with Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation<http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/> (DSTO) and is limited to Australian citizens (or applicants eligible to hold an Australian Security Clearance).

Applicants should have completed or be close to achieving a PhD (or equivalent) in computer vision or machine learning. Some experience in object tracking and Bayesian methods is desired. Experience with FPGA/GPU acceleration is highly desirable. The post will involve adhering to deadlines for project deliverables, so excellent presentation and demonstrative skills along with the ability to deliver to specified deadlines are required.

The successful applicant may be expected to contribute to a range of related academic activities including conducting original research and its publication in high quality journals and conferences, grant writing, collaboration with industry partners, prototype development and   demonstration and the co-supervision of honours and PhD students within the project team.
