Postdoctoral position on real-time feature extraction from a dense 3D mesh

The ALCoV team at ISIT Clermont-Ferrand (France), is looking for a post-
doctoral position for S years.

We aim at developing techniques for 3D scene interpretation and automatic
labeling. Though the project will focus on making fundamental contributions,
it involves partners who will use our result for (1) automated optical
inspection of circuit boards and (2) medical imaging parsing.

The state of the art has structured research in this area [1,2]. However, the
applicative goal we have in this project sparkled new problems which are
clearly open to date. In particular, we will research the automatic extraction
of high level pre-defined geometric primitives (such as a cylinder) in a
complex topological structure.

The postdoc will not be focused on the industrial transfer, and publications
in the computational geometry, computer vision and medical image processing
fields will be sought.

The postdoc will take place at the ISIT research center (CNRS and Université
d’Auvergne) in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The postdoc fellow will be supervised
by J.-M. Favreau, Y. Gérard and A. Bartoli. The hosting group is ALCoV, an
extremely dynamical and friendly research team at ISIT.
