POSTDOCTORAL POSITION in the Team “Inference in Visual Behavior”, Institut
de Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) - CNRS UMR 7289, MARSEILLE, FRANCE

Supervisor:
Ivo VANZETTA.

Team:
A postdoctoral position is available at the “Inference in Visual Behavior”
Team (http://www.int.univ-amu.fr/spip.php?page=equipe&equipe=inVibe&lang=en),
at the Timone Institute for Neurosciences in Marseille, France (
http://www.int.univ-amu.fr/-Institute-). There, I am part of the Vision
group that also includes Frederic Chavane, Laurent Goffart, Laurent
Madelain, Guillaume Masson, Anna Montagnini, Laurent Perrinet and Manuel
Vidal.

Subject:
The postdoc will contribute to a study of the interaction of motion and
color in the early visual areas of the primate brain. She/he will acquire
both psychophysical (in humans and monkeys) and physiological (optical
imaging of intrinsic signals and/or voltage sensitive dyes and/or
microelectrode recordings in behaving monkeys) data, analyse them and
correlate them whenever possible.

Requirements:
The applicant will have prior experience in vision research, work with
behaving monkeys and - possibly but not necessarily - optical imaging
and/or eye-movement recordings. Prior interest in color vision will be
appreciated. The applicant should have programming proficiency with Matlab
(or/and Python, or any other equivalent programming language). French
language proficiency is not a requirement.

Context:
The position is funded by the the European BrainScaleS project. The
postdoctoral fellow will be expected to interact with the other members of
the program, notably with theoreticians but also with other
experimentalists in Germany, Holland, Spain and France.

Salary and duration:
The monthly salary will typically be between 1920 and 2420 Euros net,
depending on experience. Social charges will be payed by the employer. The
initial appointment is initially for 8 months. The successful candidate is
encouraged (and will be locally supported) to apply for additional funding
to prolong her/his period of stay.

Starting date:
preferably May 2013-October 2013, the earlier the better. Later starting
dates might be considered depending on the specific situation.

Requests for further information should be sent by email to
ivo.vanzetta at univ-amu.fr. The same is true for applications, which should
include a CV, a brief statement of research interests, the expected date of
availability and the names of 2 referees.

Applications should be sent preferably before March 31th, 2013, but later
applications will be considered until the position is filled.
