[visionlist] Postdoc position at ISIT on 3D measurement of neoplasias in colonoscopy image analysis

We are looking for an outstanding researcher to work on the problem of 3D measurement and characterization of neoplasias from colonoscopy images. The size of a neoplasia is an important feature for the gastroenterologist’s decision to excise it or not. Other important features include the neoplasia’s shape and color. There is currently no tool to allow a gastroenterologist to measure a neoplasia’s size intra-operatively. The researched approach will mainly use tools from computer vision and medical image analysis with the goal of proposing an image-based 3D measurement tool. 

The postdoc will be supported by project SYSEO funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). It will take place in the ALCoV group under the supervision of Prof Adrien Bartoli (http://isit.u-clermont1.fr/~ab) and Dr Christophe Tilmant. ALCoV is a young and extremely dynamical research group, which has been pioneering the field of 3D computer vision in deformable environments and optical 3D reconstruction in laparoscopy. The recruited postdoc researcher will work with other researchers and medical doctors involved in project SYSEO, and in particular with Hôpital Edouard Herriot in Lyon. Publications at an excellent level will be expected during the postdoc; if relevant patenting in collaboration with our industrial partner will be considered.

The ideal candidate has a PhD degree in computer vision, medical image processing or a closely related field and previous experience in medical image processing. Required skills include coding, linear algebra, numerical optimization, geometry.
