We are looking for an outstanding researcher to work on 3D reconstruction of
deformable objects from monocular video. 3D reconstruction is here the
process of computing the 3D shape of the observed environment. The proposed
approach will use Shape-from-X, where X may be Motion, Shading and any other
relevant visual cue. The goal of this postdoc is to research a novel theory
that will lead to a framework using these multiple visual cues from several
images. From this framework, we will then study algorithms to infer the 3D
shape. The results of this fundamental research will be applied to
laparoscopic image sequences, for which there is a high need of 3D vision
from monocular images.
The postdoc will be supported by the EU through the excellence ERC grant
FLEXABLE. It will take place in the ALCoV group under the supervision of
Prof Adrien Bartoli (http://isit.u-clermont1.fr/~ab), in collaboration with
the International Centre for Endoscopic Surgery (www.cice.fr), radiologists
and surgeons involved in the project. ALCoV is a young and extremely
dynamical research group, which has been pioneering the field of 3D computer
vision in deformable environments and optical 3D reconstruction in
laparoscopy. Publications at an excellent level will be expected during the
postdoc.
The ideal candidate has a PhD degree in computer vision or applied
mathematics. Required skills include coding, linear algebra, numerical
optimization, geometry.
Send your CV with 2 recommendation letters, 1 publication for which you are
first author, and any other relevant documents by email to Ms Julia Allirot
(Julia.Allirot at udamail.fr). The recruitment will be done as soon as an
excellent candidate is found. The postdoc duration will be up to 5 years.
