TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
The Kanwisher Lab at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT has an opening for a Technical Assistant, starting summer of 2013, helping conduct research on the functional organization of the human brain using fMRI, behavioral, TMS, and other methods. Responsibilities include designing and programming experiments, conducting fMRI scans and behavioral experiments, analyzing behavioral and MRI data, and general lab management.
Candidates must have ALL of the following: i) strong math, statistics, and computer skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, shell scripting), ii) substantial programming experience, iii) Mac and Windows troubleshooting skills and comfort in a Linux/Unix environment, iv) a Bachelor's degree in cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, psychology, or math, and iv) evidence of serious interest in a career in cognitive neuroscience. Applicants must get along well with others, interact well with children and their parents, be organized, self-motivated, independent, reliable, and able to multitask efficiently in a fast- paced environment.
In addition, prior research experience in cognitive neuroscience would be helpful, especially prior experience conducting and/or or analyzing fMRI experiments.
