Looking for Vision Data Scientist. Start date Immediate.
Neon is a venture backed startup working on image recommendation at Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley. Neon’s web-based product is designed to get more people watching videos, by selecting the most visually appealing frame from a stream of video. The image selection algorithms are grounded in visual perception and cognitive/affective neuroscience, developed by the company founders at Brown and Carnegie Mellon University.
Position
The candidate will be responsible for conducting research and building products related to image representation, processing, and analysis. Experience with large-scale datasets, machine learning, image attribute recognition, object detection and scene detection problems at scale is desirable.
Requirements
PhD or Masters in Computer Science / Applied Math / Machine learning / Computer Vision / Computational Neuroscience / Computational Photography
Strong mathematical background in Statistics and Probability
Expertise in any of the following languages: C,C++,Python or Matlab
Critical thinking, ability to build creative solutions, ability to communicate complex ideas simply to non-experts, ability to deliver high quality results quickly.
Team
The candidate will be collaborating with scientists, designers, and engineers in a startup environment. The team will be advised by Michael J. Tarr (Director for the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, CMU), David Sheinberg (Neuroscience, Brown), and Moshe Bar (Cognitive Neuroscience lab at Martinos Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School).
The position is perfect for someone highly motivated to solve problems in a fast-paced, research focused startup environment that has strong ties to academic research.
Details
Neon is based at the Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley campus in Mountain View, CA, with additional office space in SoMa San Francisco.
Neon’s research has been funded by The National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Program and Temporal Dynamics of Learning Center.
Start date - immediate or asap.
