A postdoctoral position is available to study mechanisms for face
processing in the awake macaque in the Tsao lab at Caltech.
Experiments over the past decade have revealed a system of face-selective
regions in the macaque temporal lobe that are strongly and specifically
connected to each other. This system provides a powerful model to dissect
the steps by which the brain constructs a representation of a complex
object. What variables are being encoded within each region? What
information is sent from one region to the next? How does each region
contribute to face-related behavior? Techniques to be used include: fMRI,
electrophysiology, and optogenetics in the macaque. Candidates should
have a PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline, be highly motivated,
have strong quantitative skills, and work well with others. Experience
with macaque electrophysiology and/or fMRI is especially welcome.
Applicants should send a letter of interest and CV to Doris Tsao
(dortsao at caltech.edu).
