[visionlist] Postdoc Position on Visual Geometry and Modelling at PAVIS (IIT)

The PAVIS (Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision --
www.iit.it/pavis.html) department at IIT is looking for a highly
qualified researcher in the field of Computer Vision, Machine Learning,
and Image Analysis. The main mission of PAVIS  is to design and develop
innovative video surveillance systems, characterized by the use of
highly-functional smart sensors and advanced video analytics features.
PAVIS has also an active role in supporting the research facilities in
IIT providing solutions to life-scientists in Neuroscience, Drug
Discovery and Development and Nanophysics. To this end, the group is
involved in activities concerning computer vision and pattern
recognition, machine learning, multimodal data analysis and sensor
fusion, sensors networks, and embedded computer vision systems. The lab
will pursue this goal by working collaboratively and in cooperation with
external private and public partners.

This call aims at consolidating PAVIS expertise in one of the following
research areas:

- Visual Geometry and Modelling: monocular and multi-modal inference of
the 3D position and shape of objects in unconstrained scenarios for
video-surveillance applications. A particular emphasis will be put
towards body pose detection/estimation and non-rigid modelling of the scene.

- Multi-modal object detection and localisation:  multi-modal sensor
fusion (audio, depth, thermal), sensor networks, localisation and
cooperative 3D reconstruction in heterogeneous networks with fixed or
mobile sensors.

Applicants' research experience and qualification on computer vision,
multi-view geometry and machine learning are clearly a must, and
evidence of top quality research on the above specified areas in the
form of published papers in top Computer Vision and Signal Processing
conferences/journals are mandatory. Experience on computer graphics are
considered as a plus for this application.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in computer vision, machine learning,
signal processing, image analysis or related areas.
The salary will be commensurate to qualification and experience and in
line to that of the research institutes in the rest of Europe. Further
