AVA announcement: Cambridge Research Systems Travel Award

This award is made possible by a kind donation from our corporate member Cambridge Research Systems. It provides funding for students (postgraduates studying for a higher degree or first-year postdoctoral junior scientists) based in the UK travelling to any conferences or meetings at which they will be presenting a paper or poster. The maximum award to any one individual is 750 UK pounds.

One award will be made each year. The closing date for the award this year is 12th April, 2013 and it will be for conferences held from 25th April, 2013 to 16th March, 2014 (i.e. there will not be retrospective awards). The award is specifically to cover transport, registration, accommodation and up to £20 per day subsistence at a conference. Applicants do not have to be presenting at an AVA conference. The recipient of the award is required to write a report of the conference they attended which will be included on the AVA website. CRS will work with the authors to present the work on the CRS website in an appropriate form.

Applicants must:

Be AVA members

Be PhD students, or post-docs within 5 year of achieving their PhD

Have attended at least one AVA meeting in the last 18 months

To apply for an award you need to complete an application form which must be sent by email together with a letter of support from your supervisor: secretary at THEAVA.net. Applications will be judged on scientific merit by the Executive Committee of the AVA.

Alexis Makin (AVA administrator)
