Applications are invited *from all nationalities* for a Post-doc
Position to undertake interdisciplinary research in the area of
automatic analysis of affective and social behaviour, starting
August/September 2013.
The problem of automatic analysis of people's affective and social
behaviour is very important for multiple domains such as enhancing
human-computer and human-agent interaction, improving gaming technology
and players' experience, etc. The post-doc position is funded by the
EPSRC Project MAPTRAITS that aims to develop tools for automatic
analysis of human affective and social signals from nonverbal visual or
audiovisual cues (e.g., expressed through face and/or body gestures,
vocal cues), and assess human affective and social traits (e.g.,
valence, arousal, power, extraversion, agreeableness, etc.) using
findings from social sciences.
The post will be based at the School of Electronic Engineering and
Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London and will be
supervised by Dr Hatice Gunes (www.eecs.qmul.ac.uk/~hatice/

(starting from 01/08/2013 or as soon as possible thereafter). Starting
salary will be £34,283 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits
include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and
interest-free season ticket loan. Candidates must be able to demonstrate
their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration,
Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry
clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based
Immigration Scheme.
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer
Vision, Multimedia Information Processing or related areas with
outstanding research record and experience, and excellent analytical and
programming skills using C++ and/or MATLAB. Background in affective
computing and automatic human behaviour understanding is desirable.
Successful candidates will conduct basic research and interact with the
principal investigator, graduate students, and collaborators.
