ARVO Support Reaffirmed
On August 19, 2002, the ARVO trustees reaffirmed their support for
the Journal of Vision. They also approved a policy that allows ARVO
members to direct $95 of their dues to JOV. (Renew at
http://www.arvo.org.)
New Staff
JOV has established new staff positions of Technical Editor and
Online Manager to further strengthen the editorial and production
process.
Animated icons
Animated icons were introduced with issues
http://journalofvision.org/2/5/, http://journalofvision.org/2/5/,
and http://journalofvision.org/2/5/. Here is an example:
(If this doesn't move and you are using Eudora, open Preferences,
select "Fonts & Display" , and under "Display Options," check
"Animate animated GIF images".)
VSS Abstracts
We have received approval to publish the 2002 VSS abstracts in JOV,
and expect them out before the end of the year.
Open Access Survey
In a recent survey, when a set of typical vision researchers tried to
access online full-text current articles in a set of vision journals,
only 30% could be reached from the office, and only 13% from home.
JOV articles, of course, can be reached 100% from anywhere, anytime.
PubMed
The PubMed/Medline selection committee will review JOV in February
2003. Upon approval, indexing will be retroactive to article #1.
Publication Grants
We have received a grant from the
<http://www.soros.org/openaccess/grants-journals.shtml>Open Society
Institute to defray page charges for authors from designated
countries, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary,
Poland, Russia, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. Write us for further details.
Poster
If you would like a copy of our color poster commemorating the first
year of JOV, send us an email. A digital version is also available,
of course.
The Journal of Vision continues to offer open-access, color, movies,
rapid publication, a permanent, simple URL for each article, and an
exceptional editorial board. We look forward to hearing your ideas
for how we can make the journal better.
