Fixed-term full-time appointment for one year

A Research Fellow is required by the Centre for Health Research to work
within a program of research, focused on understanding why myopia develops
with an emphasis on the role of vision and retinal processing. The
successful candidate will work with researchers toward the goal of
developing prevention strategies.
Closes: 14 April 2003
Salary: $53 298 to $63 298 pa

The Project
This is a 4 year project funded by the Lee Foundation of Singapore. The
position is located within the Centre for Health Research, Faculty of
Health. Appointment will be on an annual contract basis. Subject to annual
renewal of funding, the contract is renewable for up to four years in total.
Primary aim: The aim of the project is to develop a better understanding of
the causes of myopia with an emphasis on optical and retinal factors and
based on this knowledge, methods for controlling myopia progression will be
studied.
Secondary aim: The project will also aim to disseminate information about
myopia prevention strategies to clinicians and scientists.
