Like the pdf organizing tool recently posted on this list by Izumi 
Ohzawa, this is not specific to vision science.

If you never heard of BibTeX, please ignore this post, it's not for 
you.

I you have a reference library for BibTeX and/or want to keep track 
of numerous pdfs, and are working in MS Windows, I have a useful 
tool. BiBLE manages reference libraries, automatically imports 
references from PubMed and makes them available for citing in BibTeX, 
has flexible sorting and filtering functionality. It can at the same 
time keep track of where your paper reprints and pdf files are.

BiBLE was written by me. So if you find a bug I'll probably fix it. 
However, there is no formal support or guarantee at all. BiBLE is 
freeware.
