Research Fellow in Human Factors of Display Technologies
The EPICentre at the University of Abertay Dundee is a research =
institute specialising in display technologies and the human-display =
interface. It has recently started a research project entitled "Eye-Zone =
Display System using Emissive Microdisplay", or more succinctly "EZ =
Display", with partners MicroEmissive Displays Ltd, Edinburgh, and =
Thales Optics UK, St Asaph. This 2-year project is part-funded by the =
UK Department of Trade and Industry under the LINK Information Storage =
and Displays (ISD) Programme. The aim of the collaboration is to =
develop and characterise a robust, lightweight and ergonomic =
head-mounted display system for a range of consumer and other uses.

The head-mounted system will incorporate microdisplays based on MED's =
proprietary PLED emissive microdisplay technology and use novel optics =
custom designed by Thales. The EPICentre contribution will include =
advising upon usability and ergonomic issues in the design phase, =
coupled with detailed photometric measurements of the final system =
characteristics.
You should have at least an honours degree in Psychology, Physics or a =
relevant discipline, and preferably a relevant postgraduate =
qualification. Relevant expertise is essential in at least one of the =
following areas: human visual system, psychophysics of display =
technologies, aspects of vision and perception relevant to the design =
and usability of visual display systems.
Salary will be on the RA1A scale, within the range =A3 18,265 - 23,296
