The School of Psychology is seeking to appoint an exceptional =20
individual to a Research Fellowship (for details see =20
http://www.cf.ac.uk/jobs/134/). The area of research is open and =20
applications from vision scientists are encouraged. You should have =20
completed, or be close to completion of, a doctorate in Psychology or a =20=
related discipline, and should be able to demonstrate a track record =20
of, or the potential to, conduct research of international quality.
The School is also is currently assessing its priorities for the new =20
Research Councils UK 5 year Fellowships =20

The vision group in Psychology has excellent facilities contained =20
within new, purpose-built labs equipped with state-of-the-art =20
technology.=A0 The group is part of a wider vision community within =20
Cardiff University (including research in Optometry, =20
Biomedical=A0Sciences and Computer Science) and is geographically close =20=
to other concentrations of vision researchers in the UK.
The deadline for the School fellowship is the 10th May (so there is an =20=
opportunity to talk to Tom, Alex and Simon at VSS).=A0 The School also =20=
has to identify its priorities for the RCUK fellowships soon.=A0 Royal =20=
Society, Wellcome and other fellowships normally=A0have deadlines in the =
=20
Autumn.
The School of Psychology is one of the largest and most successful in =20=
the UK.=A0 It recently was awarded a 5* (maximum) rating in the UK =20
research assessment exercise.
Cardiff is the youngest and fastest growing capital city in Europe.=A0 =
It =20
is in very close proximity to the beautiful Welsh countryside, has a =20
two hour rail link to London and a (cheap) one hour air link to Paris =20=
and Amsterdam.
